Sunderland clinched a Europa League place with a 2-1 home victory over Chelsea on Sunday to close their Premier League campaign.

Lutsharel Geertruida earned eight. He found smart positions before the interval that Chelsea struggled to track, then stood up strongly when the second half became more demanding.

Nordi Mukiele received nine, rising to the occasion, dominating his duels and carrying a threat when stepping forward. He has had a superb season and looks one of Sunderland’s outstanding signings.

On his return to the XI, Luke O’Nien was marked eight. He was aggressive, used the ball well and threaded a fine pass through the lines in the build-up to the second goal.
