Sunderland fought back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs’ first-half lead through Ben Davies was cancelled out by Brian Brobbey’s brilliant effort.

Robin Roefs could do little about the opener, had few saves despite the hosts’ control before the break, and was steady after half-time. Rated six.

Lutsharel Geertruida looked off the pace early on but improved once moved into midfield, competing well as Sunderland gained a foothold. Rated six.

Nordi Mukiele was frustrated in the first half, yet switching to right back unlocked him. He drove the pressure that led to the leveller and other chances. Rated seven.

Omar Alderete produced a few composed moments in possession but was below his usual defensive level, surviving a couple of lapses. Rated five.
