Norwich City boss Philippe Clement has made it clear that he doesn't expect to lose any key players in the summer transfer window.

Norwich City head into the 2026/27 season full of optimism after the remarkable job that Philippe Clement has done since his appointment.

The former Rangers boss was named as Liam Manning’s successor in November, inheriting a team in the relegation zone, having picked up just nine points from 15 games, so dropping to League One was a real possibility.

Yet, Clement got an instant response from the players, and Norwich picked up 56 points from his 31 games in charge, which would have had them competing for promotion over a full campaign.

Therefore, there is a belief that the Canaries will be in the mix to go up this season, and a positive start to the window, with Andre Brooks the major arrival, has lifted the mood further.

However, one fear for all connected to the club is that some of their better players could depart in the transfer window.

Jovon Makama has particularly flourished since the Belgian arrived, and it has been claimed that Kellen Fisher was on the radar of Hull City, and there are many more that will have attracted attention from elsewhere.

With Fisher missing the friendly draw at AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday, it fuelled speculation that he could be moving to the newly-promoted Tigers.

But, speaking to the BBC, Clement made it clear that he does not expect to lose any influential players, as he reiterated that the whole club are on the same page, and only a ‘crazy’ offer could change that stance.

“It’s clear. For all the players, there is a really clear plan. For me, for Ben (Knapper), for the owners, nobody will leave who is a potential starting XI player.

“I know this time of the year, because there are no games, that people like to make stories, but there are no stories for the moment about that.

“It’s only when people come with crazy money to get players away who are starting XI players, and you’re sure you can get a better replacement. You can never say no to those situations, but that has not been the case. I can also say that there has not been one bid for a player in this pre-season, because all the players and the agents know that we don’t want anyone to go.”

This is a perfect message from Clement, as you can never entirely rule out a sale, as, especially towards the end of the window, there is a chance a ridiculous bid is tabled for your player, and, in that scenario, the club will benefit from a sale.

Crucially, though, he is not encouraging any offers, and outlining Norwich’s stance that nobody is for sale is showing that all connected to the club are pulling in the same direction.

It’s also exactly how it should be, as Norwich are a club in a good position right now. They have a lot of talented players, and, in Clement, they boast a top coach at this level.

The way he transformed the club after arriving at Carrow Road was remarkable, and there will be a belief that the team can win promotion, even if it’s via the new extended play-off format.

So, the focus for Norwich this summer isn’t about retaining players, it’s about adding a few more players to the squad to ensure they can compete with anyone in the Championship.
