Celtic defender Alistair Johnston has teased an imminent return. The right back has been injured since late August but is working his way back to full fitness after the hamstring injury.

Celebrating his 27th birthday, Celtic shared a post for the player which resulted in the Canada star replying, stating he’d be back soon.

The fullback has been instrumental in the club’s success over the last three years and will be eager to help improve Celtic’s attack get up to speed. The absence of Johnston has been felt given his qualities; however, the emergence of Colby Donovan has been pleasing.

Canada boss Jesse Marsch hinted that Johnston may be back in contention for the National Team in November for their friendlies.

It remains to be seen whether Celtic would permit the player to leave for friendlies if he has just returned from injury, especially considering the number of ‘big games’ coming up. The focus will be the Premier Sports Cup Semi Final against Rangers at Hampden.
