Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal failed to make the FIFPro World XI 2025 according to readers' poll conducted by Spanish newspaper AS despite being among the 26 nominees announced by the International Federation of Professional Footballers FIFPro.
More than 4100 fans took part in the online vote — yet none selected Yamal in their preferred eleven.
The poll crowned Ousmane Dembele fresh off winning the Ballon d’Or with Paris Saint Germain as the most voted forward with 19 percent support.
He was joined by Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid, 28%) & Erling Haaland (Manchester City, 16%) in attack.
In midfield, Vitinha (PSG) and Pedri (Barcelona) shared 27% while Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) earned 14%.
The defensive line featured Achraf Hakimi (PSG, 23%), Nuno Mendes (PSG, 22%), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool, 17%) and William Saliba (Arsenal, 17%).
Thibaut Courtois dominated the goalkeeper vote with 64% ahead of Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG, 31%).
Despite his stellar year and second place Ballon d’Or finish, Lamine Yamal received only 12% of total votes — not enough to enter the top XI.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) also struggled for support securing 4% each despite winning the Premier League and MLS Golden Boots respectively.
