Vincent Aboubakar joins Neftçi PFK in Azerbaijan

Experienced Cameroonian striker Vincent Aboubakar has ended almost four months as a free agent by finally signing with Neftçi PFK in Azerbaijan.

Negotiations had been temporarily suspended due to the financial demands of the 33-year-old forward, before an official agreement was reached allowing his transfer as a free player.

Warm welcome for Aboubakar in Baku

Upon his arrival in Baku, Aboubakar was greeted with an enthusiastic reception from Neftçi PFK fans, as shown in videos posted on the club’s social media channels.

He will wear the number 45 shirt and is expected to make his debut for the team against FK Qabala in the ninth round of the Azerbaijan Premier League.

The Indomitable Lions striker began his professional career with Valenciennes, before moving on to Lorient, Porto, Beşiktaş, Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Hatayspor, and now Neftçi PFK. To date, he has played 343 matches, scored 126 goals, and provided 45 assists.

On the international stage, Aboubakar has featured in 115 matches for Cameroon, netted 45 goals, and lifted the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 2017.
