So, Tottenham are in a bit of a pickle, aren't they? Igor Tudor's caretaker reign has been a disaster, only extending a winless run that has reached 13 league games.
Spurs sit just a point above the relegation places and, on current form, look the likeliest candidates of the scrapping sides to go down. It would be, arguably, the most stunning relegation across Europe's top-five leagues, with a squad packed by internationals and captained by aWorld Cup winners.
Should Spurs go down for the first time since 1977, it would lead to an almighty fire-sale. We've picked out the ideal destinations for Tottenham's top talent to jump ship to.
Cristian Romero - Atletico Madrid
Has there ever been a moreAtletico Madrid player who's never actually played for the club? Cristian Romero is often brilliant, occasionally combustible, and loves nothing more than backs-to-the-wall penalty box defending.
He's got thatdawg in him, as the kids would say, and Diego Simeone likes himself a dawg.
Micky van de Ven - Liverpool
If Micky van de Ven was auditioning for a big move this season, then he's certainly fluffed his lines. But the Dutchman is a unique profile, clocking record-breaking speeds for a centre-back and winning Tottenham's Player of the Season in his debut campaign.
Liverpool need a central defender (or two) this summer, and Van de Ven could be the ideal addition to replace Ibrahima Konate's recovery pace, should the latter not sign a new deal.
Add in a healthy Dutch contingent at Anfield and his ability to double-up as a deputy left-back, and it's a deal that makes sense.
Mohammed Kudus - Newcastle United
Newcastle made a hash of their signings last summer, with the £180m spent on Anthony Elanga, Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade reaping little reward.
Elanga has been unable to replicate his Nottingham Forest performances and solve the club's right-wing problem. Kudus can be a game-changer from that position at his best.
Domonic Solanke - Newcastle United
A potential double deal for the Magpies?
Newcastle's aforementioned striker struggles could seeDominic Solanke snapped up should Spurs go down. Eddie Howe knows the player well from his time at Bournemouth.
Pedro Porro - Manchester City
Pedro Porro never made a first-team appearance during his three seasons onManchester City's books, but could be an astute addition now. City lack a recognised right-back and few boast better delivery than the Spaniard.
Richarlison - Everton
It's rare that a footballer departs a club with his reputation in tact in the modern game, but Richarlison's respect ofEverton has ensured the relationship remains strong.
The 28-year-old has never quite settled at Spurs, having been loved during his first stint on Merseyside. An upgrade on Thierno Barry and Beto would be welcomed.
James Maddison - Coventry City
Coventry City are within touching distance of aPremier League return for the first time in 26 years. The Sky Blues lead the Championship and, should there be no major hiccups, attention will soon turn towards consolidating as a Premier League team.
What better addition than Coventry-born former academy graduate James Maddison? It would be a romantic statement signing.
Archie Gray - Leeds United
Another one for the romantics, Leeds were forced to cash in on Archie Gray after missing out on promotion in 2024.
The Whites are back in the big time now and battling to finish above Spurs in the relegation battle. If successful, the return of Gray would be a major coup. The 20-year-old's family has a long history at Elland Road, but his own chapter proved short. Could there be a sequel?
