Since taking over as co-owner in February last year, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has aimed to completely reshape United’s transfer strategy, shifting the focus from established superstars to young talents who can be developed into world-class players.

In the past year alone, United have recruited the likes of Chido Obi, Ayden Heaven, Sekou Kone, Enzo Kana-Biyik, Diego Leon, Leny Yoro and Patrick Dorgu.

At just 16, Emsden-James is widely regarded as one of the top defensive prospects in England for his age group. He combines an impressive physical presence with excellent technical ability, making him the ideal prototype of the modern-day defender.

A report covered by The Peoples Person revealed that United warded off competition from Manchester City to land Emsden-James

Earlier this month, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that United had wrapped up a deal for the teenager, even giving his famous “here we go” catchphrase.

Now, the player himself has announced the transfer.

Emsden-James fires message on Instagram

On Tuesday, EmsdenJames took to Instagram and posted a series of photos of himself posing at United’s facilities.

In the pictures, the defender is seen holding up a United shirt with the number three on the back.

He captioned the images with the message, “Proud and grateful to sign for Manchester United.”

“A dream come true and the start of an exciting new chapter. Can’t wait to get started.” His message was accompanied by a love heart emoji.

Emsden-James is expected to begin with the Under-18s and then gradually work his way up to the first team.
