Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has told former Arsenal teammate Eddie Nketiah to accept a move to Marseille after the French club submitted an 'improved' bid for the striker.

The forward made 51 appearances for the club last season, registering 30 goals and 11 assists before accepting a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Quadsiah. Whereas Nketiah made 37 appearances for Arsenal but only found the back of the net six times.

The Ligue 1 side have continued their pursuit of the Hale End graduate and have now submitted an new €20m (£16.9m) proposal for the player. According to The Athletic, Arsenal are likely to view the bid as unrealistic and value the player at a much higher price than Marseille are offering.

But former Arsenal and Marseille star Aubameyang believes Nketiah should take the move to France and has shared his opinion with the player. As revealed on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Gabon international has told Nketiah to join Marseille after spending one season at the Stade Velodrome himself.

Reports claim that Nketiah has already agreed a five-year contract with Marseille and is in favour of a move to Roberto De Zerbi's team. Marseille are keen to get the deal over the line, and will hope to convince Arsenal with their latest bid.

Nketiah is, however, a homegrown talent, and so Arsenal may demand a high fee if they are to let him go. The 25-year-old is keen to play regular football, and could fill the gap left by Aubameyang if he is to accept a move to France.

Aubameyang scored 30 goals in 51 games for Marseille during the 2023/24 season before signing for Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah. Earlier in his career, he grabbed 92 goals in 163 Arsenal appearances, notably playing a starring role in their FA Cup triumph of 2020.
