Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang received a hero’s welcome from a throng of Marseille fans this Wednesday, July 30, at Marignane airport. Arriving to sign a new contract with Olympique de Marseille, the Gabonese striker shared his first impressions.

The 36-year-old Gabonese forward landed this evening at 7pm in Marignane. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made no secret of his emotion at the reception from the Olympian faithful. Hundreds of Marseille supporters turned out to celebrate his return, creating an electrifying atmosphere at the airport. The former Arsenal and Chelsea striker was visibly touched by this outpouring of affection.

"I missed all of this. It’s such a pleasure to see all the supporters. Honestly, family, I’m moved, really moved and so happy to see you all. And this year, we’re going to go all out! I can’t wait to play at the Vélodrome again. On the plane, I caught a glimpse of the stadium… The somersault? I promise I’ll do plenty this season, but there’s another celebration you all know very well," he declared.

He also spoke of his impatience to play again at the Vélodrome, and led a resounding "Aux armes" chant, quickly picked up by the fans in attendance.
