Genoa cannot sell Albert Gudmundsson to Fiorentina until finding a new striker, so after Wolves rejected their Fabio Silva bid, they’ve turned to Andrea Pinamonti.
The deal is done with the Viola to send the Iceland international on a paid loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season for a combined fee of €30m.
However, the Grifone won’t release Gudmundsson until they have a replacement in their grasp.
It was hoped that Fabio Silva would be the candidate, but Wolverhampton Wanderers rejected their proposal to sign him on loan with option to buy.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the plan now is for Genoa to secure Pinamonti, who would be available for cheap from relegated Sassuolo.
The 25-year-old could be picked up on loan for €1.5m with an option to buy for circa €16-17m in June 2025.
There can be some obligation written into the agreement in case certain conditions are met during the season.
This would be a return to Marassi for Pinamonti, who is a product of the Inter youth academy and already had a loan spell with Genoa in 2019-20.
