Piquerez is nearing a return from ankle surgery but may not feature for Palmeiras before the World Cup.
According to Nosso Palestra, he is close to medical clearance at the club's Núcleo de Saúde e Performance. If Marcelo Bielsa calls him up, only two games would remain before reporting for World Cup preparations.
He was injured against England at Wembley during the last FIFA window, sustaining a ligament rupture in his right ankle. He underwent surgery to speed up his recovery for the tournament.
Recovery has progressed well and he has been working on the grass in separate sessions alongside Crias da Academia.
Given the schedule, and if his place in the final squad is confirmed, there is a realistic chance he does not play for the Verdão. There is also a remote possibility he could be named for next week's decisive Conmebol Libertadores group match against Junior Barranquilla at Allianz Parque.
Next up, Flamengo v Palmeiras in the Brasileirão on 23/05 at 21:00 Brasília time.
