Andrea Ranocchia praised Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez after Sunday’s gritty 2-0 win over Pisa.
Speaking to the Pressing via FCInterNews, Ranocchia hailed El Toro as the best striker in Serie A.
Indeed, the 28-year-old’s second-half brace catapulted the Nerazzurri to a hard-earned victory over the newly promoted outfit.
Despite facing long odds, Pisa refused to go down without a fight, forcing Inter to go to great lengths to take all three points.
Furthermore, the visitors had to wait until the 69th minute to break the deadlock, with Lautaro drawing first blood.
Then, he sealed Inter’s triumph seven minutes from time with a poacher’s finish at the back post.
In doing so, the former Racing Club goal-getter completed his first Serie A brace of the season.
Meanwhile, Francesco Pio Esposito made his first-ever assist in Italy’s top flight, setting up his captain for the opening goal.
However, Lautaro’s heroics stole the spotlight.

“First of all, I’ll say he became great because he even trained with me,” Ranocchia joked. “Just kidding.
“For me, he’s the best in Serie A because you can’t judge him only by the goals or assists he scores.
“For a defender, it’s tough to play against him because you expend so much energy trying to mark him.
“He creates space and makes intelligent runs.
“On the days he doesn’t score or assist, he still opens up gaps for others.
“You can feel his presence on the pitch regardless.
“Chivu substituting him? I think the coach has found a way to get into the team’s spirit -it’s clear they all care about him.
“Inter isn’t a striker-dependent team: Dimarco, Bastoni, Barella, Calhanoglu all score,” Ranocchia added.
“They have a system that creates chances.
“I hope Lautaro scores a lot, but even if he doesn’t, the others will because he generates so many opportunities.
“The outlook for this season is that 4-5 teams will fight until the end.
“Inter has many internationals, and they haven’t had a break for years. Chivu’s management of the squad will be crucial.”
