Although they have yet to win a contest since their return to the top flight, Pisa haven’t been a slouch either. They have registered four draws and as many defeats in their first eight outings, and their only heavy loss was a 0-4 beatdown at the hands of Bologna away from home. On the other hand, Roma, Udinese, Napoli were only able to beat the Torri by a single goal.
Moreover, the Serie A newcomers earned valuable away points against Atalanta on the first day of the season, and at San Siro against Milan in their most recent match, when they were a few minutes away from recording a historic result. However, Alberto Gilardino’s men currently sit 19th in the table, so they must start mustering victories sooner rather than later.
Lazio have seemingly recovered from their early-season woes. After collecting only three points from their first four Serie A fixtures, the Biancocelesti picked up eight points from their last four. The Biancocelesti made short work of Genoa on the road a few weeks ago, before registering back-to-back draws against Torino and Atalanta.
In their most recent outing, the Biancocelesti prevailed over Juventus thanks to Toma Basic’s early strike, which cost Igor Tudor his job. This was certainly the team’s best result since Maurizio Sarri’s return to Formello, and it elevated them to 10th place in the Serie A standings.
Pisa (3-5-2): Semper; Caracciolo, Canestrelli, Bonfanti; Toure, Marin, Aebischer, Akinsanmiro, Leris; Moreo, Nzola.
Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Romagnoli, Gila, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Cataladi, Basic; Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni.
Pisa may have been a tough nut to crack for the big boys in Serie A, but Lazio are riding high on confidence, and they’ll be looking to carry their momentum to the famous Tuscan town. The hosts might display their resilience in the early stages, but the visitors should eventually breach their defences, with Mattia Zaccagni playing a crucial role.
