Crystal Palace are reportedly ‘accelerating plans’ to have Tyrick Mitchell sign a new deal amid interest from fellow Premier League clubs.

That’s according to Football Insider, which adds that while Palace do have the option of extending his stay by an additional 12 months, they are still hoping to agree a long-term contract.

It comes amid interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, who have begun targeting Mitchell ahead of his anticipated release at the end of the season.

However, if it looks as though the Eagles will activate his 12-month clause, the two sides may have to enter a bidding war to try and secure his signature – or pursue alternative targets.

United have set their sights on Mitchell after opting against signing a full-back in the summer window – a decision which has already caused problems for Michael Carrick, as both Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu have missed games through injury.

The 27-year-old defender has been a mainstay while Palace have reached new heights over the last few years, and he’s certainly one player who’ll have relished it as much as the fans, having come through their academy and spent 10 years at Selhurst Park.

Mitchell joined Palace’s youth setup from Brentford in 2016 and worked his way through the ranks. Now, he has an FA Cup, UEFA Conference League and Community Shield winners’ medals to his name.

It remains to be seen if he will view 2027 as the right time to move on from the Croydon outfit, especially if United or Liverpool can offer him the chance to play in the Champions League next season.
