Despite recently voicing that he has no desire to return to the North West, Cole Palmer would reportedly be open to joining Manchester United on one condition.

According to the Daily Mail, the Chelsea talisman opening the door to an Old Trafford switch would be ‘somewhat dependent on United deciding they want him’.

Palmer would need game-time assurances if he were to join United

Palmer would be vying with Bruno Fernandes for a starting spot in midfield, and the United skipper will continue to be a mainstay as long as he maintains the world-class form that he’s shown since signing for the club in January 2020.

Still, should an opportunity present itself, United would feel inclined to make a move due to the fact that Palmer, who hails from Wythenshawe, is a boyhood Red Devils fan – even though he spent 13 years working his way through the ranks of Manchester City’s academy.

He bid farewell to the Etihad in 2023, joining Chelsea in a £42.5 million deal and on a seven-year contract. 11 months later, the attacker penned a bumper two-year extension, meaning he is tied to Stamford Bridge until 2033.

How Palmer has fared since joining Chelsea

Chelsea have absolutely no plans to facilitate the exit of their starlet anytime soon. However, the same could also be said for Newcastle United and Alexander Isak last year.

Although Palmer has struggled with a persistent groin issue, which has led to him missing ample game time while he recovered from the odd setback, his numbers would make any suitor jump at the chance of adding him to their ranks.

The 24-year-old has returned a phenomenal 46 goals and 21 assists in 93 Premier League appearances and 7,514 minutes of action.

His maiden campaign at Chelsea remains his career-best, as he notched 22 goals and 11 assists in 33 top-flight matches.
