A number of leading members of the first-team setup at La Liga giants Barcelona have revealed their nicknames in Hansi Flick’s squad.

Several, as expected, come based simply on their names, with Raphinha known as ‘Rapha’, Pau Cubarsí ‘Pau o Cuba’, Marc Casadó ‘Casa’, and Robert Lewandowski ‘Robbie’ or ‘Lewy’.

Others, including Frenkie de Jong, Ansu Fati, Gavi and Iñigo Martínez, admitted that they do not have nicknames in the dressing room.

Recent free agent signing Wojciech Szczęsny has maintained his moniker from his Juventus days, in the form of ‘Tek’.

Some of the most interesting Barca nicknames, though, have been reserved for the likes of Pedri and Fermín López.

The former has been christened ‘platanito’ by one specific teammate, in Jules Koundé.

Midfield partner Fermín, meanwhile, is known as “Cabezón” or “Trujillo”, after the character Fernando Tejero in tv show ‘La que se Avecina’.
