Flamengo have been handed a lift in the international break, with Plata back in full group training and he could bolster Leonardo Jardim’s side when it ends.

According to Globo.com, the forward worked with the squad at Ninho do Urubu on Wednesday and appeared to have shaken off discomfort in his right thigh. The team had four days off before resuming, with sessions through Saturday and a rest day on Sunday.

Plata reported pain in the back of his right thigh during the 2-1 win over Bragantino at the Maracanã, Flamengo’s last match before the break. The problem led to his withdrawal from Ecuador duty after an initial call-up, with Marcelo Gallardo cutting him.

Ayrton Lucas was also injured against Bragantino, suffering a muscle issue in the posterior region of his right thigh. He still needs more time to return, with an initial estimate of about a month and a half out.

Flamengo’s next game is away to Santos on 8 October at Vila Belmiro, in the 29th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Jardim has nine more days to prepare his team before they return to action.
