After months of waiting, Inter Miami finally secured their first home win with a 2-0 victory over the Portland Timbers. The result arrived just before the World Cup break and came against former head coach Phil Neville.

Lionel Messi and German Berterame scored to secure the points, with Messi also providing an assist as the Men in Pink sit top of the Eastern Conference at the time of writing. According to interheron.com, Messi led the ratings and Yannick Bright was highlighted as a key midfielder.

Goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair kept a long overdue clean sheet, aided by a steady display from Micael and Gonzalo Lujan, while Ian Fray contributed at both ends. Sergio Reguilon looked secure and supported the attack.

In midfield, Telasco Segovia’s understanding with Rodrigo De Paul and Bright continued to grow. De Paul finished with five chances created and 10 recoveries.

Up front, Luis Suarez linked play neatly but had a quiet evening.

From the bench, Facundo Mura pressed high and pushed forward to unsettle Portland’s back line. Daniel Pinter showed attacking intent, while David Ayala and Preston Plembeck were not on long enough to be rated.
