Bayern Munich returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga with an impressive win against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday night. It’s the Rekordmeister’s first three points since the third matchday, when they beat Bochum 7-0 on August 21. Bayern’s 4-0 win at the Allianz Arena ended a run of three consecutive draws and a defeat, moving them to within two points of Union Berlin, who play on Saturday.

Leroy Sané opened the scoring inside three minutes, which was then doubled when Jamal Musiala played an excellent one-two with Thomas Müller, giving Bayern a 2-0 lead inside 17 minutes. Sadio Mané then scored his first Bundesliga goal since August 21 before Müller completed the rout.

Bayern Munich – 4 (Sané, Musiala, Mané, Müller)

Manuel Neuer, 6

Benjamin Pavard, 6

Dayot Upamecano, 7 – The Frenchman fast becoming Bayern Munich’s best defender. Another assured performance alongside a new defensive partner.

Matthijs de Ligt, 7

Alphonso Davies, 5

Joshua Kimmich, 6

Marcel Sabitzer, 7 – It will be difficult for Leon Goretzka to displace Marcel Sabitzer. The Austrian with another commendable performance. Composed and creating an excellent partnership with Joshua Kimmich.

Leroy Sané, 6

Jamal Musiala, 9 – One goal and two assists inside 39 minutes. The 19-year-old simply magnificent tonight. His first touch, vision and ability to drive forward with the ball is phenomenal.  Oozed confidence.

Thomas Müller, 7

Sadio Mané, 7 – The Senegalese forward ends his goal drought. A superb left-footed shot that will certainly be a confidence booster. Had another goal ruled out for a foul in the build-up.

Bayer Leverkusen – 0

Lukáš Hrádecký, 3 – Another poor showing from the Finnish international. Although a deflected shot, should have saved Jamal Musiala’s goal. Then gifted Thomas Müller a goal with a costly slip.

Odilon Kossounou, 5

Jonathan Tah, 6

Edmond Tapsoba, 5

Piero Hincapié, 6

Robert Andrich, 6

Kerem Demirbay, 5 – Largely ineffective from a deeper position, Demirbay improved when Gerardo Seoane switched to a 4-3-3 in the second-half, allowing the playmaker to play a more advanced role.

Jeremie Frimpong, 5 – A right-back playing on the wing, the Dutchman showcased his explosive pace but had he more confidence, he could have had a goal. Hauled off at half-time in a tactical substitution.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, 5

Moussa Diaby, 6

Patrik Schick, 4 – One of the Bundesliga’s best forwards, but another abject performance tonight. Granted, he had very little supply, but was largely disappointing again. Bayer Leverkusen should have pressed Bayern from the front, but Schick failed to initiate a press.
