Eight days removed from the shocking Coppa Italia elimination, Lazio made amends by starting their Serie A campaign with a valuable away victory over Bologna.

The Renato Dall’Ara contest was a balanced affair with limited chances at both ends of the pitch, but Davide Frattesi emerged as the hero by scoring the solitary goal of the contest just minutes after his second-half introduction.

So here are our player ratings for Lazio, who enjoyed an enchanting outing in Bologna for the third time in 2026.

Lazio XI (4-3-3)

Christos Mandas – 8

The Greek shot-stopper had no business saving that free header from Jens Odgaard, but was somehow able to reach the ball. He was also brave to beat Jonathan Rowe to the ball, and denied a dangerous free kick from Federico Bernardeschi. A well-earned clean sheet.

Adam Marusic – 6

The Lazio stalwart was enjoying a positive start to the match, stopping Nicolo Cambiaghi in his tracks on two occasions, but picked up a knock in the process that ended his outing after just 15 minutes.

Danilho Doekhi – 7

The big Dutch defender had a convincing Serie A debut, prevailing in the physical battle against Roberto Piccoli and Artem Dovbyk.

Oliver Provstgaard – 6

The Danish centre-back made important interceptions, but almost gifted Bologna an equaliser with a poor pass.

Alfonso Pedraza – 6

An industrious performance from the Spaniard on his Serie A bow. He did well to limit Riccardo Orsolini’s danger, but didn’t truly distinguish himself.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru – 4.5

The Nigerian was given the nod after a decent display against Mantova, but was wasteful and off the pace this time. He should have been hauled off at half-time, and ended up leaving the pitch injured in the second period.

Nicolo Rovella – 6

The Italian international kept the ball rolling in midfield and won back possession on numerous occasions. But it still wasn’t a vintage Rovella display.

Kenneth Taylor – 6

A much improved performance from the former Ajax man who had a forgettable summer. He was happy to do the dirty work as he tirelessly pressed high against the Bologna backline.

Matteo Cancellieri – 5

The winger almost cost Lazio dearly after losing possession. His quick feet earned Cambiaghi a yellow card, but he returned the favour by fouling his compatriot, which prompted his half-time exit.

Boulaye Dia – 6.5

The much-maligned Senegalese hasn’t been able to impose himself as a goal threat, but at least he set up his teammates at the Dall’Ara while roaming all over the pitch. Combined well with Zaccagni early on and provided the assist for Frattesi with a sublime backheel.

Mattia Zaccagni – 5.5

The Lazio skipper had an early chance that went just wide. He also delivered a few crosses to the box, but it was still an underwhelming display considering his high standards.

Substitutes

Romano Floriani Mussolini – 6

The 23-year-old right-back had some nervous moments, but he still made important defensive contributions. He also played a part in the winner.

Gustav Isaksen – 6

Although he didn’t have a marquee moment, the Dane instantly improved the right flank following his half-time introduction. Combined well with his teammates.

Davide Frattesi – 8

In his first Serie A appearance for Lazio, the midfielder had a superb cameo. He opened his account for the club after a give-and-go with Dia, made a goal-line clearance to deny Eivend Helland, and was lively in the middle of the park.

Tijjani Noslin – N/A

Nuno Tavares – N/A
