Bayern Munich missed a chance to go top of the Bundesliga after Borussia Dortmund secured a point in stoppage time in the first Klassiker of the season. Against the run of play, Leon Goretzka gave Julian Nagelsmann’s side the lead before Leroy Sané added a second after the break.
Youssoufa Moukoko pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining before Kingsley Coman sent off for a second-bookable offence. BVB capitalised with Nico Schlotterbeck finding Anthony Modeste at the far post to head the ball over the line, securing an important point.

Donyell Malen, 5 – The technical ability is there, but the Dutchman just lacks confidence at the minute. Often showcases his abilities but wants that extra second on the ball. Must improve.
Youssoufa Moukoko, 8 – The 17-year-old becomes the youngest scorer in Der Klassiker on his first start. Superb one-two with Anthony Modeste before firing the ball past Manuel Neuer. His decision making has improved in the final third and BVB look much more dangerous in attack when he plays.

Dayot Upamecano, 8 – The Frenchman again continues to shine. Completed the most passes, accurate with his passing, made 5 clearances and 3 interceptions and dealt with the explosive pace of Donyell Malen. Won 100% of his ground duels (7) and now a key player for Julian Nagelsmann after struggling last season.
Matthijs de Ligt, 6
Alphonso Davies, 5
Leon Goretzka, 7
Marcel Sabitzer, 4 – The Austrian has been magnificent this season but with Joshua Kimmich on the bench after recovering from Covid-19, Sabitzer started alongside Goretzka. Struggled, was booked in the opening minutes of the game and too rash. Hauled off at half-time by Nagelsmann.
Leroy Sané, 8 – Has now scored in three consecutive games for Bayern Munich for the first time since joining. Started on the right-flank but excellent when he drifts centrally, uses his neat dribbling and pace to glide past players with ease. Completed 100% of his dribbles (2) but also put in a shift defensively, recovering the ball on two occasions.
