The Premier League’s return after another tedious international break saw two titans of the English game come head to head, as United came trophy hunting at Anfield.
The lineup and subsequent ratings are listed below.
Giorgi Mamardashvili – 6.0
The giant Georgian stopper was unable to stop a superbly executed opening goal, however, he was alert and steady as he kept the margin at one goal.
After the restart, the Reds’ backup keeper was unable to stop the Maguire goal as the giant defender rose to nod home.
Conor Bradley – 5.0
The Irish fullback was keen to show width but often ran into trouble in a limited first half.
After the break, the defender was unable to improve before being withdrawn again.

Milos Kerkez – 5.0
The Hungarian international was unsure positionally as his natural game continued to be scuppered by the faltering system.
After the intermission, the youthful full-back was more effective going forward as they chased the game.
Ibrahima Konaté – 7.0
The French international defender was unlucky for the first goal as he attempted to cover the position rather than the man for the first goal conceded.
In the second period, the former RB Leipzig man was strong and reliable as the structure failed him.
Virgil van Dijk – 7.0
The captain and leader of this team was guilty of putting his partner under pressure as he failed to read the play for the opening goal.
After the intermission, the former Celtic giant was a strong influence within a system that is continually failing.
