David Neres and Scott McTominay were outstanding in Napoli’s 3-0 win over Fiorentina at the Stadio Franchi and helped the Partenopei jump to the top of the Serie A table.
Napoli are the new table leaders in Serie A, although Atalanta have a game in hand, having played in the Supercoppa Italiana midweek.
Antonio Conte’s men put in a perfect performance in Florence against Fiorentina, one of the best teams in the league this season. Football Italia was among the accredited media at the Stadio Franchi.

It was an even game in the first half, although Napoli went to the break with a one-goal lead thanks to a stunning David Neres strike.
Matias Moreno’s errors in the second half affected the Tuscans as the Argentinean caused a naive penalty kick converted by Romelu Lukaku.
A double Alex Meret save prevented Fiorentina from getting back in the game and McTominay crowned an all-round performance with his fourth Serie A goal this season.
Fiorentina: De Gea 6; Ranieri 5, Comuzzo 4.5, Moreno 4 (59′ Colpani 5); Dodo 4.5, Adli 5.5 (78′ Cataldi), Mandragora 5 (73′ Richardson N/A), Parisi 5 (58′ Gosens 5.5); Beltran 5 (78′ Kouame N/A), Sottil 6; Kean 6. Coach: Palladino 5.
Best Fiorentina player: Kean 6 – He had scored the equaliser in the first half, but it was disallowed for a handball which was hard to spot. Tough call, but it was confirmed by VAR. He was tough to beat physically but didn’t get proper service from his teammates.
Lowest Fiorentina rating: Moreno 4 – Surprisingly picked over Colpani for a more defensive 3-4-2-1 system, the Argentinean was entirely at fault for Napoli’s second goal as he gave away the ball before committing a blatant foul on Anguissa. Nightmare.
Fiorentina coach: Palladino 5 – Tried to surprise Napoli with a three-man defence, but the tactical plan didn’t work out. Fiorentina were aggressive in the first half and would have deserved a goal, but Meret produced some great saves.
Napoli: Meret 7.5; Di Lorenzo 6.5, Rrahmani 7, Juan Jesus 6.5, Olivera 6.5 (89′ Raspadori N/A); Anguissa 7.5, Lobotka 7 (89′ Gilmour N/A), McTominay 7.5; Neres 8 (86′ Ngonge N/A), Lukaku 6.5 (71′ Simeone 6), Spinazzola 6 (86′ Mazzocchi N/A). Coach: Conte 7
Best Napoli player: Neres 8 – Hard to pick a standout performer at the Franchi today, but the Brazilian was the difference maker when the match was even. The goal that opened the account was nothing short of spectacular. Parisi will have a headache tonight.
