According to Football Italia, Nicolò Fagioli and Francesco Pio Esposito received the top ratings as Fiorentina drew 1-1 with Inter at the Stadio Franchi. The report viewed the displays as a positive sign for Italy, adding that, compared with Kean, there was no doubt who should start for the play-off.

Inter burst out of the blocks, Esposito scoring inside the first minute, and the visitors threatened to add more before Fiorentina settled. Kean then squandered the hosts’ best first-half opening.

After the break, Ndour levelled to secure a deserved point, with Vanoli’s team far more assured following a shocking start. Vanoli was rated 6.5 for a response built on improved control.

Fagioli, marked 7, was Fiorentina’s standout, calm on the ball and above 90% for passing. Kean and Ranieri took 5, the former struggling for position and missing a big chance, the latter repeatedly exposed down his flank after being caught out by Esposito early.

For Inter, Esposito’s strength and sharp touches underpinned a 7 and offered further encouragement for Italy. Thuram was given 5, now eight games without a goal and too static. Kolarov received 5.5, with Chivu banned, as Inter faded after a bright opening and lost midfield control once Calhanoglu, returning from injury, was replaced. Milan are six points behind the Nerazzurri.
