The Premier League closed with Brentford visiting an Anfield stadium filled with uncertainty as Arne Slot brought his horrid season to a close.
The lineup and subsequent ratings are listed below.
The giant Brazilian stopper was superb especially in the first half where he proved he is still the undisputed number one. Unlucky for the equaliser.
The England international was productive on the ball and able to score the Reds’ only goal, as he showed how he should be better utilised on this side.
The French international was effective five and combative against Thiago, as he looked to ensure his own strength overcame that of his opponent.
Subbed – 90 mins
The Scotland international was willing and full of running in the last game for his beloved Liverpool. A stellar career and a player who leaves as a beloved legend.
Subbed – 83 mins
The captain and leader of this team were vocal and looked to organise against a team desperate to find the winner. His status remains assured as the skipper who leads for others to follow.
The Dutch international was able to offer a little more offensively but struggled to contain his opponents in the middle of the park. The last time he should be utilised as a holding or defensive midfielder.
Subbed – 83 mins
The Hungarian international was able to offer some peer running and energy ahead of the double pivot, however, the patterns of play were always lacking as this team simply looked like a group that lacks the level of coaching needed.
The Argentina World Cup winner was quietly effective and looked to add central midfield control against a team desperate to overcome their more illustrious opponents.
The teenage prodigy was sporadically exciting and explosive as he nearly opened the scoring with a beautiful move and drive from distance. A remarkable young talent who needs to align with his teammates more often.
Subbed – 74 mins
The Dutch player was a player who once again struggled. His presence is never a fear for the opposition and his movement is never a benefit for his teammates.
The Egyptian skipper was easily the most likely to make something happen as his touch and movement excelled. The assist was tremendous and typical of his world-class ability.
Man of the match
Subbed – 74 mins

X: @FabrizioRomano
Florian Wirtz – 6.0 (on 74)
Came on to force a great late save.
Jeremie Frimpong – 5.0 (on 74)
Came on to offer more pace.
Trey Nyoni – 5.0 (on 83)
Came on and struggled to find his rhythm.
Milos Kerkez – 5.0 (on 83)
Came on.
Joe Gomez – 5.0 (on 90)
Came on.
Arne Slot – 6.0
The starting lineup was as expected and the system unaltered. The bidding of farewells was clearly aimed at numerous players, given the mass underperformance of the head coach, who would hopefully also be overseeing his last game in charge.
The second-half substitutes were designed to say goodbye and the patterns of play were lacking.
Liverpool 2 – 1 Brentford
