Inter Miami suffered its third draw of the season with a rough 2-2 result at home versus the Michael Bradley-led New York Red Bulls

Coming off their highly anticipated home opener last Saturday against Austin FC, the Herons hoped to earn the team’s first win in the Nu Stadium.

However, Miami’s tactical woes continued, with several defensive and midfield mishaps allowing the Red Bulls to take advantage.

While a long-form piece may be in the cards to break this down, after this draw, the Herons need to get back to the whiteboard before they begin to free-fall down the Eastern Conference standings.

Here are Player Ratings from Inter Miami’s 2-2 draw to the New York Red Bulls.

*I’ll rate every player on a scale of 1 to 10, with 5-6 being average/below average. For the substitutes, I’ll judge accordingly. *

Goalkeeping/Defense:

Dayne St. Clair - 6.5: Most of the goals conceded were, in earnest, not his fault but rather bad positioning of his defense. Still, as the reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, he should do better to get his backline in order.

Sergio Reguilón - 5: Played one half, and was substituted off due to a tactical decision or injury (unclear which one it was, will update later.)

Micael - 6.8: Not his best game in an Inter Miami shirt, but he did better than his center-back counterpart.

Maxi Falcon - 5.6: Was horribly out of position during New York’s first goal. Didn’t really recover as the rest of the night went on.

Ian Fray - 6.5: Had glimpses of trickery down the right-hand side that made for a great offensive overlap, but he had to be subbed out due to injury.

Midfield

Yannick Bright - 7: Arguably one of the best players on the field this game. Was everywhere defensively and had a couple of good progressive passes in attack that led me to believe he should be given trust as a proper, tempo-setting six.

Rodrigo De Paul - 6.7: Assist aside, it wasn't really his night. Had trouble getting back defensively as well, and his lack of urgency in the box led to New York’s second goal of the night.

Telasco Segovia - 6.6: Looked much better than he did in previous matches, but I wish his Designated Player-caliber midfield teammate could do the same.

Attack

Lionel Messi - 8: Eh, he can only do so much, really.

German Berterame - 7.8: Happy he scored!

Mateo Silvetti- 7.9: Again, it wasn’t the attack that let the team down. They made plenty of chances and finished a few. Unfortunately, the midfield and defense are lacking cohesion at this time.

Substitutes

Daniel Pinter - 5.6: Tried his best to stretch the pitch and impact the flow of the game, but he did look a bit lost out there.

Gonzalo Lujan - 6: Defensively sound, once again, couldn’t quite help Miami get the win.

Luis Suarez - N/A: Didn’t play long enough to warrant a rating.
