The Premier League saw the Reds host Manchester City on a weekend when both Chelsea and Manchester United extended their leads in the race for the top five.
The lineup and subsequent ratings are listed below.
The giant Brazilian stopper was strong early on to repel a one-on-one opportunity for the visitors.
After the restart, the Reds’ world-class keeper was alert, able to handle a variety of issues, and remained commanding. Couldn’t be blamed for the Silva goal. The penalty was a rash moment and uncharacteristic of the legendary stopper. The final goal was built on circumstances.
The Hungarian skipper was almost exclusively pinned to a defensive position as the plan of City was clearly to occupy the future Liverpool skipper who held his own against Semenyo.
When the match resumed, the former RB Leipzig man was more productive and able to move up the field. The goal from the free kick to open the scoring was incredible. Sent off in ridiculous fashion.

The Hungarian international gave a good account of himself as he looked to many misting his discipline against a dangerous adversary.
After the break, the explosive full-back was able to offer good width and never seemed to Dave from the battle at hand.
Subbed – 94 mins
The French international was formidable in his work and made sure he was always in the right position to win the ball.
In the second half the former RB Leipzig man was again strong and physically capable when called upon.
The captain and leader of this team was always in the right place to ensure the safety of his backline.
After the intermission, the former Celtic giant was more animated as he looked to drive his men forward. Maybe could have won the initial header as Bernardo Silva equalised.
The Netherlands international was unable to progress the ball effectively as much of his work was off the ball.
In the second half the former Ajax product was more impactful as he managed to play marginally higher up the pitch.
The French striker was at times electric with his movement and penetration.
After the half-time break, the former PSG prodigy was unlucky as a fine header was directed just wide.
The Argentine international was passive too often as he struggled to stamp his authority on the ball.
After the break, the former Brighton star was more controlling as his side looked to gain an advantage.
The German attacker was at times pinned and frustrated without the ball as City enjoyed the first-half spoils.
In the second half, the world-class technician was more effective and more of a conduit for the movement around him.
The record-breaking attacker was at times ineffective, yet still showed guile in moments where space presented itself.
After the break, the former Chelsea forward was able to be more provider of opportunities as delightful balls started to appear.
The Dutch attacker showed a lack of incisiveness as he looked forlorn on the flank.
After the intermission, the former PSV attacker was again lacking in intensity.
Subbed – 85 mins
Curtis Jones 6.0 (on 85)
Came on to add more control.
Federico Chiesa – N/A (on 94)
Came on to
Arne Slot – 6.0
Was always likely to name the same starting eleven as the under-fire head coach desperately needed consistency and a win.
The substitutions were pointless and uninspired.
Liverpool 2 – 1 Manchester City
