Ligue 1 McDonald’s, Matchday 10, 29/10/25
PSG were held in Brittany (1-1) after a resolute performance from Lorient. Nuno Mendes (49′) opened the scoring with a rebound before Igor Silva’s (51′) thunderous volley levelled proceedings.
Neither goalkeeper was really troubled in the opening 30 minutes of the half. Both Mvogo and Chevalier only saw one shot on goal, which both went wide. Unsurprisingly, Les Parisiens had the lion’s share of possession, but Les Merlus looked the most threatening when they launched quick counter attacks.
Dermane Karim mustered the first shot on target in the game, but his curled effort failed to trouble the PSG stopper. Nuno Mendes then hit the target from distance, which Mvogo could comfortably palm into the air before catching. The first goal of the game was almost an own goal as Dembélé fed Ndjantou in behind, the youngster’s cross was almost turned into the Lorient goal by Talbi.
After a rather dull spectacle in the first half, the match sparked into life after the break with two goals scored in the opening 6 minutes. The Ligue 1 champions opened the scoring through Nuno Mendes after his initial header was saved by Mvogo; the ball fell back into his path, and with the goal gaping, the Portuguese international made no mistake. The hosts responded superbly. After Chevalier pushed Kouassi’s cross to the edge of the box, Igor Silva met the ball and unleashed a thunderous first-time finish, which flew into the bottom corner to level the scoring.
Barcola almost gave the visitors the lead with a volleyed effort, but Mvogo produced a terrific stop to deny the former Lyon forward. PSG’s search for a second goal continued as Lorient aimed to survive the onslaught of their goal. Mendes cut inside and directed his effort goalwards, but the Lorient stopper was equal to it again.
Despite PSG’s dominance in possession, the hosts still created opportunities. Théo Le Bris found rare space in the Les Parisiens penalty area, but could only hit the side netting. Kvaratskhelia’s dipping effort from distance forced Mvogo into another save as time began to run out for the Ligue 1 champions. In the 7th and final minute of stoppage time, Vitinha unleashed a swerving effort from distance that went narrowly over. The Portuguese midfielder’s shot would be the last of the match as the points were shared between PSG and Lorient.
Lucas Chevalier – 5
Marquinhos – 6
Illya Zabarnyi – 5
Lucas Beraldo – 5
Nuno Mendes – 6
Senny Mayulu – 5
Warren Zaïre-Emery – 6
Considering the attacking nature of his midfield counterparts in the first half, the France international held down the fort in the first half. At the base of midfield, Zaïre-Emery broke up play well and dictated tempo as Les Parisiens tried to find a way through. Given more license to roam in the second half, he picked up some promising positions.
Désiré Doué – 4
The playmaker struggled with the defensive duties of his midfield role. With the hosts happy to sit in and launch counter attacks, the Frenchman drifted into advanced positions to little effect, whilst leaving his midfield counterparts with far too much space to cover. Doué’s evening ended prematurely as he exited the pitch with another muscular injury.
Ibrahim Mbaye – 5 (45′ replaced by Vitinha – 6)
Ousmane Dembélé – 6
Quentin Ndjandtou – 6 (45′ replaced by João Neves – 5)
Arsène Kouassi – 6
Yvon Mvogo – 7
As PSG grew in confidence in the second half, so did the quality of saves from Mvogo. Acting as the final wall amid an onslaught of his goal, the Swiss keeper made three significant saves to keep the score level and his side in the game.
Igor Silva – 6
