(A score of 6 is around average)

Hubert Graczyk – 6.5 – A couple of decent saves but wasn’t called into question too often due to a lack of finishing from Hertha and Jackson’s performance in front of him.

Jaydan Kamason – 5 – A tough performance for him, he struggled in possession under the speed of Hertha’s press but did provide a couple of dangerous crosses. Defensively he was caught out in behind on a number of occasions and often had to resort to fouling to stop his marker.

Louis Jackson – 8.5 – A colossal performance at the back, Hertha could have easily had more than one goal if not for him. An early goal line clearance started it off before a last ditch blocked almost secured the win late on. In between he was everywhere at the back, mopping up danger and clearing anything that came near the box. Looked the clear leader in possession at the back too.

Jack Kingdon – 7.5 – A good performance alongside Jackson, he made a number of clearances and blocks.

Harry Amass – 7 – An uncharacteristic first half, he seemed to be caught off guard by the effectiveness of Hertha’s press and lost possession a few times. Look far more alert in the second half as he shielded the ball better and evaded their press. Defensively he was caught out pushing too high at times.

Jayce Fitzgerald – 6 – A mixed bag, he made some very skilful touches to dodge challenges but also fell victim to Hertha’s press on other occasions.

Dan Gore – 8 – Continued his return from injury with another impressive performance and it is easy to see why Erik ten Hag took a liking to him before his setback. The most comfortable of the United midfield under pressure, he was able to evade challenges and skip through the midfield expertly as United’s main driving force. It was not just his dribbling that was top class though, he also provided some incisive passes and tough tackles.

Ashton Missin – 6.5 – Was good on the ball and consistently either beat his man or was fouled but simply didn’t get on the ball enough.

James Scanlon – 5 – A contrast to his four goals for the u18s on the weekend, he made little impression in the 10 spot.

Sam Mather – 5.5 – Looked dangerous on a few occasions dribbling infield but far too often Hertha were able to push him to play the ball backwards and his set pieces deliveries on the night were extremely poor.

Ethan Wheatley – 6 – Did a lot of good work, especially in the opening stages of the match with his work rate off the ball and ability to get into good positions in the attacking third. But ultimately he just didn’t have the end product to go with it, coming closest with an effort off the post in the opening minute of the match.

Substitutes

Zach Baumann – 7 – Came off the bench and provided the vital goal which looked like would be the winner until the final moments. Added energy in midfield, picking up the ball and moving it quick with changes in pace.

Jack Moorhouse – 6 – Kept it simple in possession as he continues his comeback from a lengthy injury.

Tyler Fletcher – 6 – A decent cameo before unfortunately giving away a soft penalty in injury time.

Bendito Mantato – 6 – Not much chance to stretch his legs in attack but tracked back well defensively.

Gabriele Biancheri – 6 – Only on for the final ten minutes but showed some good hold up play and put himself about in the opposition area.
