PSV got their best result of the season yet and secured their place in the Europa League knockout stages with an excellent 2-0 win over Arsenal.
Here’s how well we think each of their players performed on the night…
Walter Benitez, 7 – Made three good saves to keep a clean sheet.
Phillip Mwene, 6 – Didn’t do much in an attacking sense but was good at the back.
, 7 – Solid in the centre of defence, keeping Eddie Nketiah quiet.
Jarrad Branthwaite, 7 – His best performance yet for PSV, with the centre-back making some excellent interceptions.
Phillip Max, 6 – Was solid in defence, and made some good attacking runs, even if they usually didn’t lead to much.
Erick Gutierrez, 7 – Did really good defensive work in midfield as he often does for his team. He’s not flashy, but very effective and very important.
Ibrahim Sangare, 6 – Made a mistake in the first half but didn’t do anything else wrong, doing some good things on the ball.
Joey Veerman, 7 – Wasn’t that involved for most of the match but delivered when it mattered, making some great passes in the final third and giving his team the lead with a great finish.
Anwar El Ghazi, 5 – Couldn’t make much of an impact in the half that he played, but worked hard defensively.
Xavi Simons, 9 – This was the night that Xavi Simons announced himself to the world. The 19-year-old caused problems for Arsenal every time he got the ball with his incredible dribbling and was hugely unlucky not to get a goal.
Cody Gakpo, 7 –
Luuk de Jong, 8 – Made an enormous impact after coming on, getting a goal and an assist. PSV look a different team with him up front.
