Earlier on Monday, Ici Azur reported protests upon OGC Nice’s return late on Sunday night, following the 3-1 defeat to FC Lorient earlier that day. Foot Mercato have now revealed the violence of those protests.

As per Ici Azuraround 400 Nice fans gathered outside the club’s training ground. It comes amid a crisis that has enveloped the club, who, on a run of six straight defeats, currently sit 10th in Ligue 1 and bottom of the UEFA Europa League standings.

Fans chanted “Move you ar*es” and called on the club’s sporting director, Florian Maurice, to resign. Fabrice Bocquet was also the subject of the fans’ ire, however, he was not on the bus, having parted ways at Nice airport. That decision has not gone down well at the club.

Foot Mercato have now provided further details. Upon arriving back in Nice, one supporter was allowed onto the bus and proceded to tell them to get off, threatening them. The players obliged. Two players in particular were then targeted: Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi.

The former is criticised for having invited Olympique de Marseille fans into the Allianz Riviera to watch last week’s 5-1 loss to their local rivals; Moffi was seen laughing and joking with members of Lorient’s hierarchy on Sunday, after the defeat. The pair, as per Foot Mercato, were kicked, spat on, and slapped by several supporters. Sporting director Maurice was also struck before security intervened.

Nice’s players have been left shocked by the incident and had already raised the issue of such a confrontation.
