Marculeta played for Real from 1928 to 1934, then joined the then Athletic de Madrid for two seasons. Around then, Argentine midfielder Peña Iriarte made six Real appearances before two campaigns at Atlético.

Miguel Ángel Moyá left Atlético for Real in February 2018 due to Gerónimo Rulli’s injury and departed in 2021. More recently, Javi Galán had a short loan at Real in early 2024, before Le Normand and Sørloth joined Atlético that summer.
