PANAMA CITY – The Final Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued with Panama and Guatemala drawing 1-1 in Group A on Monday at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama.

Carlos Harvey had a good look for the hosts in the 22’, with a long-range attempt to the bottom left corner that was met by a save from Guatemala goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen.

Guatemala took the lead in the 35’, with Óscar Santis striking from the center of the box to open the scoring. Arquímides Ordóñez recorded the assist on the play.

Harvey leveled the match for Panama in the 37’, with a header to the far post to capitalize on a delivery from Éric Davis on a corner kick.

Harvey came close to securing his brace and the lead for Panama in the 48’, but his header from close range was high above the crossbar.

Hagen had several important interventions in goal throughout the remainder of the match to help Guatemala secure the point.

In the 67’, Hagen stopped an attempt from Tomás Rodríguez from the center of the box, before denying a late hit from Andrés Andrade from the left end of the box in the 90’+5’.

With the result, Panama is third in Group A with two points and Guatemala sits fourth with one point.

Both teams will resume the Final Round in October with road fixtures. Panama will visit El Salvador, while Guatemala will prepare to play in Suriname.
