The preparations for the Champions League semi-finals return leg between PSG and Arsenal have been marred by scenes of tension near Paris’ Parc des Princes as riot police clashed with football fans, as reported by Le Parisien. The outlet understands that many ticketless fans met up near Parc des Princes to cheer on Luis Enrique’s Les Parisiens before their season-defining clash against Mikel Arteta’s Gunners. However, they were advised not to by Collectif Ultras Paris and the Paris Police, to facilitate the flow of match-going fans.

Clashes eventually broke out between PSG fans and police hours before the game, with teargas being used, as videos showed on social media. Fans were also being pushed out by riot police, forcing them to run from the scene. Le Parisien report calm quickly returned and ticket-holders were able to get into Parc des Princes to take their seats. The Paris police department did not report any arrests at this stage.
