Portland Thorns FC will host Racing Louisville FC in the final NWSL match of the weekend on Sunday, separated by four points in the NWSL table.
Fifth-place Portland won its first home match of the season on Tuesday, dismantling NJ/NY Gotham FC in the second half of Tuesday’s 4-1 win. Meanwhile, 12th-place Racing has lost back-to-back games, including last week’s 4-1 loss to San Diego Wave FC.
Sunday could also be an opportunity for some of the younger players to shine. Reilyn Turner and Caiya Hanks have been game-changers for Portland, while Louisville’s Ella Has is someone who could easily become more impactful as the season progresses.
Ultimately, both sides will enter the fixture seeking all three points for different reasons, with the home side looking to extend a winning run and the visitors aiming to reverse their recent misfortunes. Here is a look at the game between the Portland Thorns and Racing Louisville.
1:00 PT, 4:00 ET.
The game can be streamed on NWSL+ and Paramount+.
Supporters can view the match in person at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon. Click here for ticket information.
Portland should make few or no changes after their impressive win against Gotham FC. Louisville should probably adjust their lineup, but will probably only make a few changes.
Mackenzie Arnold (GK) - Reyna Reyes, Jayden Lee Perry, Sam Hiatt, Mallie McKenzie - Sam Coffey, Jessie Fleming - Caiya Hanks, Marie-Yasmine Alidou, Reilyn Turner - Deyna Castellanos
Katie Lund (GK) - Ella Hase, Courtney Petersen, Arin Wright, Lauren Milliet - Ary Borges, Taylor Flint, Katie O'Kane - Janine Sonis, Kayla Fischer, Emma Sears
Portland, at this time, is the better team on paper. That is why the prediction is that the home team will beat Louisville 3-1. They will continue from where they left off on Tuesday, scoring multiple goals. Turner and Hanks should have another excellent game, with at least one of them finding the back of the net. Lund will have a solid performance between the sticks for Racing Louisville, but her backline will not protect her well enough.
