Porto have signed Tiago Fernandes, known as Tiaguinho, the former Benfica winger, for their debut futsal season. The 28-year-old returns to Portugal after two seasons with Fortitudo Pomezia in Italy.
The club said in a statement that the Portugal international is their second confirmed addition for 2026/27. He played 53 times and scored 12 goals in Serie A for Pomezia across the past two campaigns.
Born in Matosinhos, Tiaguinho came through Cohaemato, then made his name at Benfica. At 16 he became, at the time, the club’s youngest ever senior futsal debutant.
He spent 2014 to 2021 with the Lisbon giants, winning one Campeonato Nacional, one Taça de Portugal and two Supertaças. He later featured for Braga, Modicus, Quinta dos Lombos and Caxinas.
Capped five times by Portugal, he now joins Porto’s new futsal project, who will compete in the national third division in 2026/27. He will reunite with Cardinal in André Pereira’s squad and wear the number 10 shirt.
