According to O Jogo, Porto, Benfica and Sporting are targeting Gustavo Sá after he rejected a January move to Saudi Arabia. The 21-year-old midfielder has been a pillar of Famalicão’s excellent season.

Sá has been one of the league’s standouts. The three perennial title contenders are positioning for a favourable shot at securing him.

Famalicão are known for developing players and Hugo Oliveira’s side has several in form, yet Sá is attracting the most interest. Porto admire his qualities, José Mourinho is keen to see Benfica bolstered by a young midfielder with attributes they currently lack, and Rui Borges has also given Sporting the go-ahead.

The obstacle could be the demands of Miguel Ribeiro, who heads the Minho club’s SAD and saw a January move to Al Ittihad fall through. Sérgio Conceição wanted to take Sá to Saudi Arabia, but the player chose to stay in Famalicão, turning down a financially tempting but sportingly unappealing proposal.

The situation could shift in the summer, with the big three joined by sides from other leading European leagues that have already made enquiries. Famalicão are seeking at least 25 million, half of his clause.
