According to Foot Mercato, FC Porto and LOSC Lille have found an agreement for the transfer of the 22-year-old winger Gonçalo Borges (22) to the French club. However, the deal is reportedly being held back by Porto coach Sérgio Conceição, who doesn’t want his player to leave.
Borges was set to travel to Lille for the traditional medical exams before sealing a move worth under €20 million before the coach intervened. The player is pushing for the transfer, as he was delighted by the idea of joining the North of France side, where he would be surrounded by fellow compatriots such as Tiago Djaló (23) and Tiago Santos (21), or even the manager Paulo Fonseca.
The player had started his career off over at the Benfica SL academy, before joining Porto in 2015. He since then slowly made his way through the youth ranks at the club, before finally making his first appearances for the first team during the 21/22 Liga Portugal edition. This season, he has been limited to a substitute role, though he has shown to be decisive when he plays, distributing three assists and winning a penalty.
