Porto’s winter recruits have made an immediate mark, swinging results with goals, assists and penalties, while Thiago Silva has added leadership at the back.
According to O Jogo, the club added four players across every line except goalkeeper to deepen Francesco Farioli’s options in a window short on adaptation time. All four have responded quickly.
The Brazilian centre-back arrived first to cover Nehuén Pérez’s injury, played six games and 457 minutes, and debuted in the Portuguese Cup clássico with Benfica. A knee problem has since halted him.
Oskar Pietuszewski, 17, made instant contributions, winning a penalty at Guimarães that Alan Varela converted for the only goal after Samu had missed earlier. He then set up Froholdt for the Rio Ave winner and, on Friday, scored his first. He is Porto’s youngest foreigner to play and score, and struck the Dragão’s fastest goal at 13 seconds.
Fofana has four outings, scoring on debut against Sporting before Sporting levelled at the last. Against Arouca he earned the penalty that William Gomes converted for 2-1. Late-arriving Moffi, still regaining fitness after inactivity since November, sealed that win and is pushing for more minutes.
Nineteen Porto players have scored this season, already surpassing 2024/25’s 18. Only Samu, on 20 and now sidelined for the rest of the campaign, has reached double figures, with William on nine.
