Portugal produced a stunning attacking display to beat Gibraltar 11-0 at Europa Point Stadium.
Luís Freire made nine changes to the side that started in the 3-0 win against Bulgaria but it made little difference against the minnows.
Rodrigo Mora saw an early header saved before the breakthrough came in the 8th minute, Mathias de Amorim’s ball over the top steered home by Diogo Travassos.
Travassos turned provider three minutes later when his cross was headed home by Gustavo Varela. The third goal came in the 28th minute when Carlos Forbs found himself on the right wing, his cross headed into the net by Mora.
Fabio Baldé replaced Roger Fernandes at half-time and got his name on the score sheet six minutes into the second half after Forbs beat his man and sent a low cross into the box.
The floodgates began to open with the fifth goal coming in the 56th minute. Baldé’s cross cleared to Mateus Fernandes, his shot taking a deflection off Julian Britto and wrong footing Harry Victor.
The Equipa das Quinas made it 6-0 less than 60 seconds later after a scramble in the box, Gabriel Brás heading the ball over the line. Mateus Fernandes hit the bar before Freire brought on João Simões, Gustavo Sá and Geovany Quenda on for De Amorim, Forbs and Mora.
Portugal scored again in the 67th minute when Chissumba headed Quenda's cross to Gustavo Varela who converted from close range. Youssef Chermiti replaced Varela in the 68th minute and made it 8-0 less than two minutes after being introduced, heading home Baldé's cross.
There was no let up from Portugal who made it 9-0 in the 83rd minute when Chermiti’s shot was saved, the ball falling to Travassos who netted his second goal Chermiti was then brought down by Britto, Sá stepping up and sending the spot kick into the bottom corner.
Quenda decided to try his luck in added time and was rewarded, smashed a shot from the edge of the box that hit the underside of the bar before nestling in the net.
Portugal’s victory came after the Czech Republic's suffered a 2-1 defeat in Bulgaria which sees Freire’s side go three points clear at the top of Group B.
