Not since 6 November 2022 has Cristiano Ronaldo kicked a ball in competitive action in Europe.

Wearing the captain's armband, Ronaldo played out a goalless 90 minutes for Manchester United in a 3-1 loss to Aston Villa, which kick-started the events of his ugly departure from Old Trafford and his eventual move to Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr.

Global broadcast restrictions have left many fans unable to watch Ronaldo in action following his move to Saudi Arabia, but he's back in Europe and preparing for a return to international football against Liechtenstein on Thursday.

Cristiano Ronaldo's form in Saudi Arabia

Ronaldo played ten games for Al Nassr before this month's international break and only scored in four of them, although he has still managed to rack up nine goals.

He put four past Al Wehda and bagged a hat-trick against Damac - enough to put him sixth in the division's scoring charts despite the fact he has only played in eight league games.

Al Nassr find themselves second in the Saudi Pro League after 21 games, just one point behind leaders Al Ittihad.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo play vs Liechtenstein?

There were doubts over whether Ronaldo would make it into the Portugal squad under new manager Roberto Martinez, but the 38-year-old has been drafted in for the boss' first squad.

Whether Ronaldo will start against Liechtenstein is up for debate, however. He was second choice for the final two games of Portugal's World Cup campaign in Qatar behind Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos, who joins Ronaldo in the squad once again.

Chelsea loanee Joao Felix is also an option in attack.
