England had to settle for a 1-1 draw away to Portugal in the UEFA Women’s Nations League after being pegged back in the latter stages.
Ella Toone had gone close from a Grace Clinton ball before England went ahead in the 15th minute, Lucy Bronze with the cross which was turned home by Alessia Russo with a close-range volley.
Goalkeeper Ines Perreira turned out a Lauren James rocket for a corner, but Portugal were beginning to threaten the England goal more.
With 15 minutes left, Kika Nazareth got a run into the box and struck the ball into the far top corner of Mary Earps net.
Nazareth had another crack but Leah Williamson blocked it for a corner, the England skipper forcing a stoppage-time save from Perreira.
Toone demanded a penalty for a challenge of her in the box but the referee was not interested.
