Portuguese youngster Rodrigo Mora is off the mark for Roma in Italy, after coming off the bench to round off the scoring in the Giallorossi’s 4-0 win at Lecce on Monday night.

Roma’s victory mirrored their opening-day 4-0 win over Fiorentina, meaning the side from the capital top the Serie A standings after two rounds. Mora was introduced on the hour with Roma 3-0 up and scored within five minutes, keeping calm to convert from close-range to open his account in just his second appearance.

The 19-year-old joined Roma in a €25m deal from FC Porto last month, with the Dragos no doubt following his progress closely given they retain a 50% sell-on clause. Roma have thrilled observers with their start to the campaign under respected boss Gian Piero Gasperini, with talk of an unlikely title charge already rumbling in Italian media.

Mora has already spoken of his excitement at playing in the Champions League this term, with Roma and Mora set for some intriguing clashes, including a home match against Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid next month, before trips to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in November, while a meeting with Sporting at the Stadio Olimpico awaits in December.
