Federico Bernardeschi spoke after the game: “I scored a goal that was important for the result. We’re coming off two straight wins, but we really wanted to get back to winning at home in front of our fans. We did that with a gritty, hard-fought performance against a strong side. It’s been a complicated season, there are so many games and we’ve had a few injuries that have limited the coach’s options. But the group has always stuck together, even in tough moments. This result gives us confidence and a morale boost. We’re building step by step, and we need to keep it going. Another big battle awaits us on Thursday,  we want to advance in the Europa League.”

Remo Freuler shared his thoughts: “It had been a while since we won at the Dall’Ara, so we’re really pleased with the three points – for ourselves, but especially for the fans who’ve always stood by us. The coach? He gives everything, just like the whole team. This win belongs to him too. We’re heading in the right direction. We know where we started from, and we need to keep pushing like this.”

Vincenzo Italiano after tonight’s win: “It was vital for us to get back to winning at home, no matter how, after such a long time. This was the type of game we had to play – matching their physicality and battling for every ball in a match that wasn’t exactly pretty to watch. We’re starting to build some consistency, and that’s really pleasing. I’m also very happy Berna was decisive again tonight. With his quality, we need him to help us unlock and win tight games like this.”

Santiago Castro speaking after the match: “We’ve put in some good performances over the past month, and today it was really important to get back to winning in front of our fans before the Europa League second leg. For a striker, scoring is always important, but my main focus is helping the team. Today I dropped deeper quite a bit to be more involved in the build-up. Did I hand the penalty to Bernardeschi? No, we’ve got great penalty takers like him and Orso. He was the one assigned to take it tonight.”
