Vincenzo Italiano said, “We started poorly with that goal conceded. We were sleeping after the corner. But we dominated the game. We did well to react, create a lot, and play our way. We maybe could’ve won it. 37 shots, 16 corners, plenty of dangerous attacks; it’s just a shame, because wanted to wrap up the qualification doubts, but we cannot always be coming from behind to overturn our own mistakes.”

“I’m happy with the way the team reacted,” Lewis Ferguson commented, “but not with the result. We wanted the three points. We created a lot of chances, but we just couldn’t score one more than them. They defended well, we played well, despite everything. The reaction was there, but it wasn’t enough.”

After the game, Nikola Moro had this to say: “A shame about the result, because the performance was there; we dominated in the second half. We got a lot of crosses in and kept the ball, as the gaffer said, but we couldn’t get the third goal. After they went 2-0, they shut up shot, but we reacted and fought back well, scoring two goals. But there’s still one game to go. Nothing is decided yet, and our aim is still to go through. We’ll work on our errors so that we don’t repeat them.”

Thijs Dallinga, scorer of our first goal, also spoke to the press: “I want to score in every competition, not just in the Europa League. After they had a man sent off, we kept up the pressure, created a lot of chances, and tried to score. They defended well, though. We’re disappointed, because we wanted to improve and get the three points.”

“It was a difficult game,” Jonathan Rowe added. “It’s a shame not to have taken the three points. In the second half, we played with safety, like the boss wanted, and created a lot, but the third goal was missing. I’m pleased with my goal. I saw the space and took the shot. I think that each game is a chance to learn and improve. We’ll take the positives from tonight and implement them in the next game.”

Juan Miranda said, “European nights are always difficult. Tonight, we have a great second half and created a lot of chances, but we didn’t get the goal. A shame, because we wanted a win that would’ve been good for the standings. Now, we travel to Serbia with aim of having a great game. But first, we need to focus on Sunday’s game in Genoa. We’re in a rough patch of form, but, as the boss says, we need to stay united, because we’re working hard and the good times will come back.”

“There’s a bitter taste in the mouth given how it finished,” said Riccardo Orsolini. “We fought back really well and almost got the three points. It was a big test of character for the whole time. We raised the bar, ground through the gears and created chances, but it went the way it did. This evening, I want to see things with a glass half full and be proud of the team. We’ve conceded first in a lot of games recently, but we’ve never lacked calmness and a desire to fight back.”

Nadir Zortea’s thoughts: “There is regret, because, on the pitch, we felt like we were managing the game well right from the first minutes. Then, we conceded two goals, one of which was from a set piece, which we’re trying to work on. In the second half, we create more, put plenty of balls into the box, but just didn’t get the winning goal.”
