Brendan Rodgers' side produced an impressive performance at Paradise to defeat Newcastle United 4-0.

The goals came from Arne Engels, Johnny Kenny, Yang and Liam Scales in what was an entertaining encounter for supporters to enjoy.

But the biggest cheer of the afternoon came in the second-half when Kieran Tierney came on for his first appearance at Celtic Park since returning to the club.

And speaking to Celtic TV after the game, Tierney said: "It was amazing. I didn’t know what to expect but that was just brilliant. What a feeling. It was quite emotional, actually, running on to the park like that, but it was a great day for me."

While Celtic produced some great attacking football throughout the 90 minutes against Newcastle and scored four goals in the process, the fact that the team kept a clean sheet would also have pleased Brendan Rodgers.

And at the heart of an impressive defensive display was Auston Trusty, with the American internationalist picking up the Man of the Match Award for his performance.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, he said: “It was a good collective effort and against a good side like Newcastle also shows where we are as a team right now. And also the mentality we have… I’m happy to have the Man of the Match but it’s a team effort.”
