Injured Manchester United left-back Patrick Dorgu has made an important stride in his path towards full recovery.
The youngster made quite an impact in Michael Carrick’s first two matches in charge. The interim head coach deployed him in a more advanced position on the left wing, and the Copenhagen native proved the 44-year-old right by scoring in the victories over Manchester City and Arsenal.

Unfortunately for Dorgu, he suffered a hamstring injury that ruled him out of action afterwards. He has been on the sidelines ever since.
Over the last two months, Dorgu has had his highs and lows in his rehabilitation process. But after increasing his world load in recent weeks, he has now made a significant step towards recovery.
In his latest update for the CentreDevils, Man Utd insider Sully revealed that the 21-year-old is now back on grass training.
As the Carrington insider explains, the Danish international had spent the previous weeks working on his strength and conditioning work at the gym, but has finally resumed outdoor training.
Although he’s only training lightly on the grass, Sully notes that the Man Utd coaches have been ‘delighted’ with his progress.
Dorgu’s current objective is to return to action before the end of the season, offering a boost for Carrick’s team in the final push towards Champions League qualification.
In the Dane’s absence, the interim head coach has been trying several options on the left wing, mainly Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, but neither is considered a natural fit for the role.
The same can be said about the left-footed Dorgu, hence why INEOS are planning to sign a right-footed left winger in the summer, but the injured star did manage to deliver in his solitary two outings under Carrick.
Dorgu is originally a left-back, so he would also offer a natural replacement to Luke Shaw, who has been ever-present in the starting lineup this season, albeit with different characteristics.
The former Lecce man might not be as defensively apt as Shaw, but he’s certainly more explosive in his attacking forays. Ruben Amorim once described him as a ‘powerful’ player.
