Bayer Leverkusen beat Sevilla 2-1 in a friendly played at BayArena on Saturday. Patrik Schick scored both goals in the space of 13 second-half minutes, with the first assisted by the debutant Miguel Gutiérrez.
The Europa League kings drew first blood with Miguel Sierra’s strike before the former Napoli left-back provided an inviting cross for the Czechia striker. Victor Boniface and Martin Terrier, who both could leave the club this summer, combined well before Schick scored the winner with a first-time volley.
Robert Andrich came off with an injury concern after coming on as a substitute 13 minutes earlier, while Malik Tillman played after his recent interview caused unrest at the club. Germany youth international Montrell Culbreath was also substituted off with an injury ten minutes before the half-time break.
Similarly, fellow Rhine club Köln won 2-1 against LaLiga outfit Real Sociedad in front of 37,000 fans at RheinEnergieSTADION. Linton Maina put the hosts in front before 19-year-old Danish Natan Yacobi scored the winner after coming on as a substitute in his place. Luka Lochoshvili scored an own-goal as the first two goals arrived inside the first ten minutes.
Borussia Dortmund-linked Said El Mala played 62 minutes for Köln. The two teams already played yesterday behind closed doors, with René Wagner’s side also coming out victorious 2-0 thanks to goals from Luca Waldschmidt and Marius Bülter.
