FC Bayern face a Bundesliga clash against Union Berlin, with coach Vincent Kompany having to compensate for a number of absentees – and could make further changes to his starting eleven
FC Bayern have a home game against Union Berlin coming up on Saturday. After an intense few weeks in the Bundesliga and Champions League, Vincent Kompany is likely to rotate his squad in a targeted manner – also in order to manage the workload
Despite a number of absentees, Munich go into the match as clear favorites, but will have to improvise again in terms of personnel
Jonas Urbig is likely to start in goal, Manuel Neuer is still missing with a torn muscle fibre and Sven Ulreich is also out injured
In defence, there is much to be said for a back four of Josip Stanisic, Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim and Konrad Laimer. Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito are not available, while Jonathan Tah is also suspended with a yellow card
Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic could start in central midfield, while Leon Goretzka would be an alternative from the bench
In attack, Kompany is likely to rely on a back three of Michael Olise, Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry. Luis Diaz is suspended following his yellow card in the game in Leverkusen, while Jamal Musiala is still not ready for action
Harry Kane is set to start in the center of attack. The Englishman is once again the central figure in Bayern’s attacking play this season and should also provide the goals against Union
FC Bayern: Urbig – Stanisic, Upamecano, M.-J. Kim, Laimer – Kimmich, Pavlovic – Olise, Karl, Gnabry – Kane
Union Berlin: Rönnow – Doekhi, Querfeld, Nsoki – Trimmel, R. Khedira, Kemlein, Köhn – Jeong, Ansah – Ilic
Querfeld returns to the starting eleven for Union Berlin after serving his yellow card suspension. Rönnow is also back between the posts. Schäfer (suspension) and Raab (hand fracture) are among those missing. Coach Steffen Baumgart is likely to rely on a compact formation and hope for transitional moments.
